MNI BRIEF: Inflation To Fall in Near Term - ECB's Lagarde

(MNI) London

Inflation fell markedly in September and is likely to come down further in the near term, ECB President Christine Lagarde said on Thursday, noting that September's decline was broad based.

However, Lagarde said ongoing geopolitical risks added further uncertainty to the outlook for prices.

Risks to growth remain tilted to the downside, and growth could be lower if the effects of monetary policy turn out to be stronger than expected, she added.
