MNI BRIEF: NY Fed Releases Last Monthly Bond-Buying Schedule

(MNI)

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York on Friday released the schedule showing what asset purchases will look like starting next week, as the central bank enters the last month of bond purchases with the program to end in March.

The Fed said in its FOMC statement in January it would buy by at least USD20 billion per month and of agency mortgage‑backed securities by at least USD10 billion per month in February. Some market analysts had expected the Fed to announce Friday that it would cut short its bond-buying program a month early. The Fed has already been discussing how it will shrink its nearly-USD9 trillion balance sheet, which could begin around mid-year.

The schedule for Treasury purchases can be found here here and the schedule for MBS purchases can be found here here.
