MNI BRIEF: OECD Q3 GDP Up Sharply But Below Pre-Pandemic Level

The OECD GDP rebounded significantly in Q3 by 9.0% following an unprecedented fall in Q2 (-10.9%). Nevertheless, OECD GDP remains 4.3% below its pre-crisis level, the OECD adds. Among the major seven economies the ones which saw the largest declines in Q2, showed the strongest Q3 rebounds in the third quarter, namely France, Italy and the UK.

The OECD further noted that GDP remained below the levels seen a year ago in the OECD area as a whole (-4.1%) and in all major seven countries with the US (-2.9%) showing the smallest y/y fall, while the UK (-9.6%) recorded the largest.
