Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday monetary policy is now a lot less tight than it was when the central bank started cutting rates in September, allowing policymakers to be more cautious about future cuts.

"Our policy stance is now significantly less restrictive. We can therefore be more cautious as we consider further adjustments to our policy rate.," Powell told reporters during his post-meeting press conference after the central bank cut rates by a quarter point and projected two more cuts for next year.
