MNI BRIEF:Powell Sees More Uncertainty on Transitory Inflation


Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said Wednesday the Fed's changes to its policy statement are meant to acknowledge "more uncertainty about transitory" inflation.

"It's become a word that has received a lot of attention which is distracting from our message which we want to be as clear as possible," he said. MNI reported last week the Fed was gradually trying to move away from the term. The Fed modified its statement to say elevated inflation is "expected" to be transitory."
