MNI BRIEF: Powell Sees No Preset Path For Rate Hikes

WASHINGTON (MNI)

Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, asked about the likely pace of expected interest-rate increases this year, said Wednesday that policymakers must remain flexible and haven't yet made any decisions.

“We’re going to have to be humble and nimble. We’re going to be led by the incoming data and the evolving outlook,” he told reporters at the post-FOMC press conference. MNI has reported the Fed’s December forecast for three hikes this year already looks outdated.
