Reserve Bank of Australia Deputy Governor, Guy Debelle, has resigned from the central bank to take a role in the private sector.

Debelle has been with the RBA for 25 years and was widely tipped as a leading candidate to succeed Philip Lowe as the RBA’s next Governor, a position appointed by the Treasurer in the federal government. Debelle will take up a new role as Chief Financial Officer of Fortescue Future Industries in June.
