MNI BRIEF: Riksbank Jansson: Serious About Allowing Overshoot

LONDON (MNI)

Riskbank Deputy Governor Per Jansson said the gap between market expectations for a couple of policy hikes in the next three years and the Riksbank's projection that the policy rate would stay flat was "not dramatic" and that he expected some convergence when markets took policymakers at their word.

Jansson, speaking at a UBS event, said that policymakers have stated that "we are prepared to accept some overshooting" on inflation before hiking, adding "I am serious about what I am saying." He stressed that it would need a lot of upside news to shift their stance.
