Bank of France Governor Francois Villeroy's comments suggesting the European Central Bank could let inflation run above 2% for some time are just the 'first of many' from national bank governors laying out their positions before the start of the Bank's strategic policy review, Eurosystem sources tell MNI.
Some questioned the usefulness of such comments at present, given that inflation is likely to remain well below target for a long time to come, with even the 2% target level a long way off.
