MNI BRIEF: U.S. Jobless Claims Dip to New Covid Low of 290,000

WASHINGTON (MNI)

U.S. jobless claims slipped by 6,000 in the latest week to 290,000, the lowest since the start of the pandemic and a sign of a gradually healing labor market.

Richmond Fed economist Claudia Macaluso told MNI in an interview there is no visible labor market mismatch and that some employers may have to raise wages to attract new workers as the post-covid labor market takes shape.
