MNI BRIEF: UK Legislators Push BOE To Go Green On Bond Buys

LONDON (MNI)

The Bank of England should align its corporate bond buying with the Paris Climate accord, the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee have said. Members of EAC have written to Governor Andrew Bailey to say the central bank should take a leadership role on global climate change ahead of the COP26 summit in the UK later this year.

Last week, Banque de France said it will no longer invest in any company engaged in any coal-related activity by the end of 2024 and will also exclude all companies whose oil and shale gas activities, oil sands and/or arctic and deep water exploration accounts for more than 10% of their turnover.
