MNI BRIEF: UK Trade Deficit Widens In July, Non-EU Exports Up

The UK's trade deficit widened to GBP3.117 billion in July from GBP2.514 billion in June, as imports increased by 1.1% over the month. That's the biggest gap since December. The deficit in goods widened to GBP12.706 billion from GBP11.988 billion the previous month, also the widest shortfall since December.

Exports to non-EU countries rose to GBP13.783 billion, outpacing EU exports (GBP13.387 billion) reverting to the trend that began in January after the UK left the transitional trading arrangement with the EU.
