MNI BRIEF: US Treasury Increases Coupons, Flags More To Come

The U.S. Treasury said Wednesday it would increase nominal coupon auction sizes across the curve in the upcoming quarter and anticipates further gradual increases will likely be necessary in future quarters.

The department will issue USD103 billion of securities at next week's quarterly refunding, raising USD19 billion in new cash. Officials plan to sell USD42 billion in 3-year notes on August 8, USD38 billion in 10-year notes on August 9, and USD23 billion in 30-year bonds on August 10.

Treasury said it also expects further increases in bill auctions in the coming days to build up its cash buffer.
