MNI BRIEF: Shenzen Wealth Management Connect Tops 100 Mn Yuan

The Shenzhen branch of China's central bank said 20 banks in Shenzhen city have opened 5,079 accounts and processed CNY104 million in cross-border fund transfers under the Wealth Management Connect scheme in the first month after launch, according to a note sent to MNI by the branch.

The scheme, which permits residents of nine cities in Guangdong province to buy investment products sold by banks in Hong Kong and Macau and vice versa, has seen active trading on both sides, though investors show differentiate appetite.

Mainland investors prefer and purchased CNY 14.59 million deposits and funds, while investors in Hong Kong and Macau prefer and purchased CNY39.59 million of domestic wealth management products and funds.
