MNI China Press Digest, June 13: Economy, Housing, Trade

BEIJING (MNI) - The following lists highlights from Chinese press reports
on Thursday:
The long term outlook for the Chinese economy remains positive despite any
temporary issues, Vice Premier Liu He said during the Lujiazui Forum in Shanghai
today. In a speech reported by China Business News, Liu also said that the rapid
growth of the macro leverage ratio has been initially contained.
The Chinese economy should not rely excessively on the real estate sector
because "housing is for living, not for speculating", said Guo Shuqing, chairman
of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission at the Lujiazui Forum
today. In a report from Tencent News, Guo warned it was also necessary to
prevent property developers from taking up too much credit from banking
resources.
China's State Council has urged the further opening of the Chinese market
and the diversification of trade partners during its executive meeting
yesterday, according to a statement on the government website. The Council also
said China should actively boost imports, the statement said.
