MNI DATA BRIEF: China Oct Export Maintains Double-digit  Surge

China's exports gained 27.1% y/y to USD300.22 billion in October, extending a surge that had lasted for more than a year, according to the data released on Sunday by the China General Administration of Customs.

October trade surplus widened to USD84.54 billion from USD66.76 billion in September, the biggest this year. Imports have also quickened to 20.6% y/y at USD215.68 billion.

In the first 10 months, exports rose 32.3% y/y. Shipments to the U.S. soared 31.7% y/y, while those to the EU and Japan gained 33.4% and 17.6%, respectively. Imports increased 31.4% y/y. Total imports from the U.S. surged 39.0% y/y, while those from the EU and Japan gained 24.7% and 20.9%, respectively.
