MNI Data Impact: Japan Mar Jobless Rate At 2.6% Vs. 2.9%

Japan's average unemployment rate stood at a seasonally-adjusted 2.6% in March, down from February's 2.9%, as unemployment fell sharply from previous months, according to data released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on Friday.

The total number of employed rose 130,000 (+0.2%) m/m in March, after rising 30,000 (+0.0%) in February, while the number of unemployed fell by 230,000 (-11.3%) in March.

The job-to-applicant ratio, a leading indicator of the employment market, stood at 1.10 in March, up from 1.09 in February, for the first rise in two months, according to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare data.
