LONDON (MNI) - Although Wednesday is a limited data day, there is plenty of
central bank activity on the calendar.
The European session kicks off at 0810GMT, when ECB President Mario Draghi
gives the opening speech at anECB Conference 'Structural reforms in the euro
area', in Frankfurt.
At 0830GMT, the latest UK Labour Market Survey will be published, followed
by euro area construction production data at 0900GMT.
New York Federal Reserve Bank Vice President Beverly Hirtle will
participate in a panel on "The Logic of Financial Regulation and Reality: Lost
in Complexity and Competition Policy" at the 5th Joint Conference on Bank
Regulation and Financial Reforms in the EU, in Berlin, with an audience Q&A.
At 1100GMT, the MBA weekly applications index will be released.
UK Prime Minister will face her weekly PMQ session at the same time.
ECB Supervisory Board member Ignazio Angeloni will participate in a panel
discussion at 5th joint Financial Stability Conference organised by ESMT, DIW,
Bruegel and Jacques Delors Institute, in Berlin, starting at 1130GMT. Then, at
1145GMT, Executive Board member Peter Praet participates in Session 2 "Political
economy and reforms" at ECB Conference 'Structural reforms in the euro area', in
Frankfurt.
Across the Atlantic, the calendar gets underway at 1200GMT, when New York
Federal Reserve Bank President William Dudley and Dallas Federal Reserve Bank
President Robert Kaplan speak on "New York & Texas as Centers of Growth" at
"From the Lone Star to the Empire State: A Discussion of Regional Economic
Trends in Texas and New York" in New York, with an audience and media Q&A.
EU ECB Supervisory Board chair Daniele Nouy participates in the Eastern
Europe conference organised by the Financial Stability Institute, in Basel,
Switzerland, starting at 1215GMT.
At 1230GMT, the first US data will be published, when the housing starts
numbers cross the wires.
Canada's Monthly Survey of Manufacturing will be released at the same time.
At 1400GMT, the Atlanta Fed inflation index will be released, followed by
the latest DOE weekly crude oil stocks at 1430GMT.
In between, at 1415GMT, ECB Executive Board member Benoit Coeure chairs
Session 3 'Reforms and governance in the European Monetary Union' at ECB
Conference 'Structural reforms in the euro area', in Frankfurt.
The Federal Reserve releases the Beige Book for upcoming FOMC meeting at
1800GMT.
