MNI European Morning Briefing

MNI (London)
LONDON (MNI) - With the US bond markets closed to observe Martin Luther
King day and not US data on the calendar, it falls mainly to Europe to provide
Monday's interest. Unfortunately, there is little to see.
The European calendar gets underway at 1000GMT, with the publication of the
EU November trade data.
At 1100GMT, the OECD will publish the January euro area leading indicator.
Across the Atlantic, at 1400GMT, the Canadian CREA Home Sales data will
cross the wires.
Back in Europe, a slow calendar day closes with two central bank
appearances. At 1400GMT, Bundesbank board member Joachim Wuermeling speaks in
Frankfurt. Then, at 1815GMT, Bank of England MPC member Silvana Tenreyo will
speak in London.
