- Trade Bal: EUR19.5bn (sa); Prev (Jan): EUR17.4bn, revised up from EUR17.0bn
- Exports: -1.4% m/m (sa), 4.4% y/y (nsa)
- Imports: -2.7% m/m (sa), 4.0% y/y (nsa)
- The EZ trade surplus widened to its highest level since Mar 2018
- While exports declined on the month, imports contracted at a stronger pace
- Among the four biggest member states, m/m exports declined in Germany (-2.0%),
Italy (-1.4%) and Spain (-1.1%)...
- ... while they rose by 0.3% in France
- After contributing 0.2pp to GDP growth in Q4, another positive contribution in
Q1 looks likely...
- ... but a stronger performance going forward remains subject to a number of
still-unresolved external risks
