MNI Gilt Week Ahead - October 26, 2020

  • Brexit talks are again the main focus this week with EU Chief Negotiator Barnier extending his stay in London. He had been due to leave London on Monday before resuming talks in Brussels on Thursday but he has extended his stay until Wednesday. This is being seen as a positive but there has been little else in the way of new news over the progress of the talks this weekend.
  • Outside of Brexit talks and Covid-19 headlines (with the press discussing some potential shortening of quarantine and self isolation rules) there is little of note on the calendar this week. There is no top tier data and with the Monetary Policy Report due for release Thursday 5 November there are no scheduled MPC speakers.
