     LONDON (MNI) - The first day of October begins with Germany's retail sales
data for September at 0600GMT. The previous y/y rate in August was 0.8%.
     September car registrations in France are due at 0645GMT. The prior y/y
growth rate in August was a staggering 40%.
     Spain's retail sales for September will be released at 0700GMT and is
followed by Switzerland's retail sales data at 0715GMT. The prior y/y growth
rates were -0.4% and -0.3% respectively.
     Next is the batch of manufacturing PMIs for September. At 0715GMT is Spain,
whose prior reading was 53.0. Next up is Italy at 0745GMT who had a previous
reading of 50.1. Five minutes later is France whose reading in August was 52.5.
Germany follow up at 0755GMT with their prior reading the strongest out of the
big four at 53.7. Putting this together means the Euro Area manufacturing PMI is
at 0800GMT with a prior reading of 53.3. Finishing the batch of PMIs is the UK
at 0830GMT with their apparent languishing manufacturing sector in 2018. The
August reading of 52.8 was the lowest score in two-years. The MNI median for
September is unflattering at 52.5.
     Also at 0830GMT is the UK's money and credit data for August. Net mortgage
lending is expected to tick up to stg3.6 bn from stg3.2 bn previously, mortgage
approvals are expected to tick downward to 64,500 from 64,800 previously and net
consumer credit is anticipated to post a recovery to stg1.4 bn after July's
disappointing stg0.8 bn reading.
     The Euro Area unemployment data for September is at 0900GMT. The prior
August m/m rate was at 8.2%.
     Atlanta Federal President Raphael Bostic speaks in Atlanta at 1230GMT.
     Moving over to the US, the US Markit manufacturing index final reading will
be published at 1345GMT. At 1400GMT, the ISM manufacturing index will be
released -- the previous reading was 61.3. Also at 1400GMT is the US
construction spending for August. The July growth was 0.1%.
     At 1400GMT, ECB Governing Council member Ewald Nowotny speaks in Vienna.
     Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank President Neel Kashkari is speaking in
Minnesota at 1500GMT. Next up, at 1615GMT, Boston Federal Reserve Bank President
Eric Rosengren speaks in Boston. Ending the speeches at 1700GMT is BOC Deputy
Governor Timothy Lane speaking at the University of Calgary, Canada.
     Australia conclude Monday with the ANZ Roy-Morgan weekly consumer
confidence at 2330GMT and the data that markets will be watching is the RBA cash
rate decision at 0430GMT. The current interest rate decision of 1.5% is not
expected to change after the meeting, according to the MNI median.
