MNI Global Morning Briefing

MNI (London)
LONDON (MNI) - The three releases to end the week and worth noting are the
UK January manufacturing PMI at 0930GMT, the January Euro Area flash inflation
estimate at 1000GMT and the US January Nonfarm payrolls data at 1330GMT.
The UK manufacturing PMI is anticipated to slow to 53.5 from a previously
reported 54.2 in December. However, should the MNI median hold true, the reading
would still remain above the 50 change/no change mark and continues to be at
odds with official data in recent months.
In the Euro Area, the HICP y/y rate was 1.6% in December. The MNI median
points to a further reduction in the rate to 1.4% in January.
The US nonfarm payrolls were surprisingly strong at 312,000 in December.
The MNI median for January is notably weaker at 167,000.
The only speech on Friday is at 1445GMT with Dallas Federal Reserve Bank
President Rob Kaplan participating at a Q&A session in Texas.
Concluding the weekend speeches on a Sunday at 1540GMT is Minneapolis
Federal Reserve Bank President Neel Kashkari participating in a town hall Q&A in
Minnesota.
