(MNI) LONDON

Thursday sees a quiet start to the day in terms of data releases, the the Norwegian central bank's policy meeting outcome will be closely watched.

Norway's central bank is to reaffirm that it is likely to hike its key rate from 0% for the first time in the cycle in September, with unanticipated krone weakness insufficient to alter the policy outlook at its August meeting.

With no new forecast round and recent activity and inflation indicators not far out of line with the committee's previous expectations, the meeting of the Norges Bank's Monetary Policy Committee, culminating in Thursday's policy announcement, is an interim one.

Initial claims seen lower again as labor market recovery continues

U.S. initial claims are seen lower again in the latest week, falling to 360,000 from 375,000 last week. Continuing claims are also expected to fall, although remaining at elevated levels, declining to 2.8 million from 2.866 million previously.

There are no scheduled appearances from policymakers Thursday.
