MNI GLOBAL MORNING BRIEFING: Ifo Eyed

The data calendar picks up pace later in the week, with the global flash May PMI surveys set to give a snapshot of the economic outlook. The Fed minutes of the early May meeting are due on Wednesday.

German IFO survey (0900BST)

The IFO survey will be the main focus early in the session Monday, with watchers looking for further indications of how the war in Ukraine and the global supply chain pressures are weighing on the manufacturing sector.

The IFO Business Climate Index is expected to ease to 91.4 after steadying at 91.8 in April. The May future sentiment indicator is expected to slip to 86.5 from 86.7 in April.

BNB Business survey (1400BST)

Later data sees the release of the Belgian National Bank's May business sentiment index, with expectations of a reading little changed from April's 2.4, easing to 2.0.

Amongst policymakers on the schedule to speak Monday are BOE Governor Andrew Bailey, ECB President Christine Lagarde and Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic.
