MNI GLOBAL MORNING BRIEFING: BOE Speakers In Focus

Monday throws up a calendar of largely second tier data, with the main releases of the week coming on Tuesday when the services PMI data crosses the wires.

German trade surplus boost (0700SBT)

German trade data is expected to see a pick-up in the trade surplus to EUR 7 billion from EUR 3.5 billion previously. Imports are expected to have recovered to +1.5% in Feb from a 2.8% decline in January. Imports are seen having slowed to 1.4% from 4.2% in January.

Turkey Inflation data (0800BST)

Turkey CPI is seen picking up again in March, with a monthly rate coming in t 5.61%, extending Y/Y gains to 61.5%. Factory gate inflation is expected to quicken to 115% y/y from 105% y/y seen in February.

US Factory Orders (1500BST)

US factory orders are expected to decline 0.5% in February after gaining 1.4% in January. Ex-transports, orders are seen declining 0.4% after a 1% gain previously.

Speakers Monday include BOE Governor Andrew Bailey, Deputy Governor Jon Cunliffe and MPC member Cathy Mann. ECB President Christine Lagarde and Executive Board member Fabio Panetta will attend the Eurogroup meeting.
