MNI GLOBAL MORNING BRIEFING: ECB and RBA The Week's Highlights

Monday sees a very limited data calendar, with no major releases in the UK, Europe and the US.

But the pace picks up through the week, with the RBA and the ECB due to publish their latest policy announcements and the U.S. May consumer price data expected on Thursday.

The RBA meet Tuesday and expectations are for another rate hike following on from the may increase, with markets pointing to a 40 bps hike, taking the benchmark rate to 0.75%.

On Thursday, the ECB is expected to announce the end of net new purchases under the APP from no later than very early July, setting the ground for a first increase in rates as early as the July meeting.

Markets have already prices in at least a 25 bps hike in both July and September, with a chance at least of a 50bps hike in one of the two meets.

U.S. inflation is due on Thursday, with chances of a further modest slowing, although prices are expected to remain at elevated levels.
