MNI Global Morning Briefing: October 26

(MNI) LONDON

Tuesday's calendar throws up largely second tier data across Europe and the U.S.

Spain PPI seen higher again in September (0800 BST)

Spanish producer inflation is expected to rise again in September, with the year-on-year rate now fast approaching the 20% level. Analysts are forecasting that prices rose at 18.9% y/y, up from 18% in August.

Conference Board confidence levels seen edging lower (1500 BST)

U.S. confidence levels are expected to edge lower in October, slipping to 108.5 from September's 109.3.

U.S. New Home Sales likely rose in September (1500 BST)

New home sales likely rose in September, picking up to a monthly rate of 758,000, extending further the upside from August's four-month high of 740,000. However, even at the current elevated level, sales remain well shy of the 977,000 seen in August 2020 as increasing costs of building weigh against buyers affordability levels - the median sales prices stood at $390,000 in August, up from $325,500 are year ago.

Tuesday sees another quiet session for scheduled policy speakers, with only ECB supervisory board member Andrea Enria currently slated to speak.
