MNI: PBOC Injects CNY50 Billion via OMOs; Liquidity Unchanged

MNI (Sydney)

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) injected CNY50 billion via 7-day reverse repos with the rate unchanged on Thursday, offsetting the maturing CNY50 billion reverse repos and leaving liquidity unchanged, according to Wind Information.

  • This aims to keep the total liquidity reasonable and ample, the PBOC said on its website.
  • The 7-day weighted average interbank repo rate for depository institutions (DR007) rose to 2.1969% at 0926 local time from the close of 2.1381% on Thursday: Wind Information.
  • The CFETS-NEX money-market sentiment index closed at 39 on Thursday vs 37 on Wednesday. A higher index indicates increased market expectations for tighter liquidity.
