MNI BRIEF: BOJ Kuroda Meets PM Suga; Agree 2% Target: Press

TOKYO (MNI)

Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda said Wednesday he met Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and they agreeing to maintain the goal of hitting the 2% price target, local media reported. Kuroda saidt the BOJ will continue to coordinate closely on policy management with the government.

When asked about the yen's rise during the recent 2-day Japan holiday, Kuroda said that it is appropriate for forex rates to move in a way that reflects economic fundamentals.

Kuroda, who periodically met with former prime minister Shinzo Abe, will speak to business leaders and the press later Wednesday.
