MNI Policy: China, U.S. in Dialogue to Resolve Trade Conflict

MNI (Beijing)
BEIJING (MNI) - China and U.S. officials have engaged in high-level talks
on the economy and trade following a telephone call between the two nations'
presidents on Nov 1, the Ministry of Commerce said.
Working teams from the two nations are closely contacting each other,
spokesman Gao Feng told reporters on Thursday.
President Donald Trump tweeted that trade talks with China are "moving
along nicely' after a telephone call with President Xi Jinping on Nov 1.
"We are still hoping to tackle the trade conflict through dialogues and
negotiations," Gao said, declining to comment on the Xi-Trump summit later this
month.
Gao also said the MOFCOM is accelerating the expansion of the free-trade
zone in Shanghai after Xi referred to the plan in his keynote speech at the
International Import Expo last week.
