MNI POLICY: China Urges India Not To Ban Chinese Apps

China has urged India to reverse its ban on 118 apps provided by Chinese firms, and to create a level playing field business environment for overseas investors, including Chinese investors and service providers, said Gao Feng, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce at a briefing Thursday.

"China expresses serious concern about the ban and firmly opposes it," said Gao, adding that the India's discriminatory restrictions against Chinese companies violated WTO rules and hurt both sides. "We hope the two countries will jointly maintain the hard-won status of cooperation and development," Gao added.

China also denied revising its export restrictions to delay the TikTok sale to U.S. companies. China revised its list of technologies banned for export in accordance with the development of science and technology, not targeting specific companies, said Gao.
