MNI POLICY: China Warns UK of Consequences As HK Treaty Halted

MNI (London)
BEIJING (MNI) - China has told the UK to stop interfering in Hong Kong's
affairs or face the consequences after London on Monday suspended an extradition
treaty with Hong Kong and implemented an arms embargo.
"China urges the UK not to go further down the wrong path, otherwise it
will suffer the consequences," said an unnamed spokesperson at the Chinese
Embassy in the UK, according to China's government-run portal China.com.cn.
Recently, the UK has "time and again made wrong remarks and conduct" on the
issue of the Hong Kong national security law, to which China has repeatedly
protested, the embassy spokesperson said.
"China is determined to oppose any foreign interference and will resolutely
respond to any interference in China's internal affairs," the spokesperson
added.
China's determination to implement the national security law in Hong Kong
is unwavering, the spokesperson said.
