MNI: Xi Says WTO Must Respect Interests of Developing Nations

     BEIJING (MNI) - Here are some key points made by Chinese President Xi
Jinping in a speech on Saturday at the G20 Summit in Buenos Aires.
     - China supports reforming the World Trade Organization (WTO). Nations must
defend its the core values and basic principles, such as openness, inclusiveness
and non-discrimination, as well as safeguarding the development interests and
policymaking room of developing countries.
     - China will continue to help African countries strengthen infrastructure
building and interconnection.
     - G20 should safeguard the multilateral trade system. New trade
restrictions imposed among G20 members each month doubled from six months ago;
globally, goods traded in 2018 may fall by 0.3%.
     - G20 should strengthen the coordination of macroeconomic policies. All
should make efforts to promote a strong, balanced, sustainable and inclusive
growth. Developed economies should be mindful of the impact of their policies on
emerging markets and developing countries.
