"Moderate" Growth Upgrade Aside, A Copy-And-Paste Statement

The very slightest of upgrades in the assessment of economic growth to "moderate" from "modest" is the only change in a July FOMC Statement that is basically copied-and-pasted from June's. See image below.
  • It's a little odd they would adjust that at all though perhaps they wanted to offer the faintest of acknowledgements that economic activity has surprised to the upside without wanting to give anything away on their current take on the labor market or inflation (language for which was totally unchanged).
  • Forward guidance also unchanged as expected - for the first time in 4 meetings.
  • In other words, a nothing Statement, in line with MNI's expectations - it's really about the press conference which starts in just over 20 minutes.
