Morning Summary: Third Wave Pushes Poland Health System To Its Limits

  • Even though we saw a sharp reduction in the daily new Covid cases since the start of the month, with the 7D SMA dropping from a high of 29,00 to 19,700, there are still much higher than the 5,000 average we saw back in Mid-February. The third wave has pushed Poland health system to its limits, hence governments should be very careful in how they decide to lift the country's restrictions .
  • Polish government had removed a draft of the bill that ratifies the so-called own resources decision, which would allow for common European Union borrowing to finance its pandemic stimulus plan, from the agenda of its meeting on Tuesday (BBG).
  • Update on the February Current Account Balance is coming out at 12pm (London time), expected to halve to 1.6bn EUR from a surplus of 3.26bn EUR in January.
  • Other important economic data to watch this week are the Final March CPI inflation on April 15 (exp. At 3.2%) and the core CPI inflation on April 16, expected to rise to 3.9% in March (from 3.7% in February).
