New mortgage approvals fell to 64,575 in October from 66,111 in 
September, below the previous 6m average of 66,676 and the lowest number 
of approvals since September 2016. Secured lending growth also retreated 
below its 6m trend on the month, growing by stg3.392bn, above the 
previous 6m average of stg3.6bn.Elsewhere, the take up of unsecured 
credit was broadly unchanged. At stg1.451bn, this monthly change was a 
touch down from stg1.484bn in September but the fall was enough to take 
it to the lowest level in three months.
