Mortgage Rates Continue To Ramp Up

  • The Freddie Mac 30Y mortgage rate jumped to 5.27% in the week ending today, the highest since Aug'09 after a 17bp increase from the previous week.
  • It equals last week's MBA rate released yesterday in being at highs since Aug'09 but shows a further acceleration compared to the levelling off seen last week.
  • Both rates continue to stretch spreads to 30Y Tsy yields.
