Mozambique President says ExxonMobil Committed to Rovuma LNG

ExxonMobil is committed to the Rovuma LNG project according to Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi.

  • Final investment decision has been delayed due to security concerns following increased attacks in Cabo Delgado Province in late 2020 and early 2021. ExxonMobil had not yet decided when they might begin work with FID expected in 2025.
  • The Rovuma LNG project will be carried out by a consortium operated by Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV), an incorporated joint venture owned by ExxonMobil, Eni and CNPC.
  • The LNG plant is proposed for two liquefaction trains with total capacity of 15.2mtpa fed from natural gas from three reservoirs of the Mamba complex, in the offshore Rovuma basin.
