US MUNIS: Muni bond holders, not to mention government employees of US states
and cities, may not be thrilled to read about the latest widely followed
accounting guidelines that will start in fiscal 2018; such Govt Accounting
Standards Board principle guidelines would make the govt entities record on
their balance sheet the full cost of healthcare promised to public employees
once they retire, said the WSJ. That could spur some govt entities potentially
to cut such retiree health benefits, it said.
