N. Korea Fires Short-Range Ballistic Missile: Yonhap

NORTH KOREA

Yonhap News Agency reports that North Korea test-fired a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM), citing South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff.

  • The projectile was launched towards the West Sea from Nampo, North Korea, around 18:20 local time.
  • South Korea's military said that it is "maintaining a full readiness posture while closely cooperating with the U.S. and strengthening surveillance and vigilance."
  • The missile launch was likely conducted in anticipation of the upcoming Freedom Shield joint drill involving South Korean and U.S. forces.
