NATGAS: German Gas Demand Rose 2.3% in Week to Aug 25

NATGAS

German natural gas consumption in the week to Aug. 25 increased 2.3% from the previous week and was 22.8% below the 2018-21 average, Bnetza data showed. Industrial demand fell 0.8% from the previous week while demand from households and small businesses was up 21.1%.

  • Industrial gas consumption fell to 979GWh/d last week compared to 2023 levels of 1071GWh and 22.8% below the 2018-21 average. Gas consumption from electricity generation is also included in the data.
  • Demand from households and small businesses rose to 201GWh/d last week, compared to 189GWh/d in 2023 and 23.3% below the 2018-21 average.
  • German gas demand stood 21.5% below the 2018-21 average the week prior.
  • Natural gas inventories in Germany are up to 94.96% full on Aug. 28 from 93.81% a week earlier amid below normal daily injection rates.
