NATGAS: Italy Ramping Up LNG Capacity with Negligible Gas from Russia: Snam

The percentage of gas flowing from Russia to Italy is negligible, according to Snam CEO Stefano Venier via Bloomberg. 

  • Italy is ramping up LNG capacity with an expectation that the total amount of gas globally will grow 2% this year, Venier added.
  • Italy will have four active import facilities after the return of the FSRU Toscana from a summer of maintenance. A cool down cargo is expected in early November, ICIS said earlier this month.
  • Italy’s Snam is planning to invest €14.5bn between 2028 and 2032 to support the energy system decarbonization and to achieve net zero by 2050, the firm said.
