NATGAS: Russia Pipeline Gas Exports to Rise to 197bcm by 2036: Novak

An increase in Russian gas exports to China and some former Soviet Union republics is expected to drive a rebound in pipeline flows to 197bcm by 2036, according to Deputy PM Alexander Novak in an in-house publication of the Energy Ministry cited by Bloomberg.

  • Russia’s pipeline-gas exports to main foreign markets reached a record of about 200bcm in 2018 before supplies to the EU market were cut in 2022 following the invasion in Ukraine.
  • Overall supply from Russia to China could rise to 53bcm/year by 2029 including volumes via the Far East route, according to Cnooc research last month. Power of Siberia 1 pipeline volumes could rise above the contracted 38bcm/year to 46bcm/year by 2025.
