NATO ambassadors will convene Wednesday at the request of Poland based on Article 4 of the alliance's founding treaty, Reuters reports citing European diplomats.
- One diplomatic source told Reuters that the alliance is still verifying the details of the incident. Earlier reports flagged a blast in the village of Przewodow near the Ukrainian border, which killed two people and may have been caused by stray Russian missiles.
- Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty states that "the Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened."
- Western leaders have been holding talks over the past few hours, with European Council President Michel noting that he "will propose a coordination meeting on Wednesday with EU leaders attending #G20 here in #Bali."
- Poland's government spokesman has said that Prime Minister Morawiecki is about to give a statement shortly as we await any confirmed details on the missile blast.
