US VIEW: NatWest economist Kevin Cummins and Michelle Girard noted on US Pres.
Trump's Fed Chair choice selection process that "importantly, no matter who is
selected as the next Fed Chair, we do not believe the near-term outlook for
policy will be meaningfully different than the path that Yellen herself has set
out (which is relatively hawkish, versus market expectations, with three rate
hikes signalled for next year and more beyond). That said, the implications of
the unprecedented turnover on the Fed Board should not be underestimated."
- They said that "if Yellen departs, Trump will have the opportunity to appoint
at least 5 of 7 new Governors to the Federal Reserve Board."
