NBP Will Not Hike Rates if Polish CPI Peaks This Summer

POLAND
  • NBP Governor mentioned during his press conference on Friday that the central bank will not hike rates if Polish CPI peaks this summer, adding that policymakers expect inflation to peak in summer months.
  • However, the NBP could continue its tightening cycle if inflation continues to surprise positively in the near term.
  • Glapinski also said that Poland may enter a 'technical recession' as the economic activity may slow sharply in the coming quarters.
