Nebati Sees Inflation Falling as Much as 5ppts Next Month

  • Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati sees inflation continuing its descent, with a decrease of as much as 5ppts expected next month. Speaking on a Haber Global broadcast on Tuesday evening, Nebati acknowledged the recent rise in food prices during Ramadan but remained optimistic that inflation would continue to decline.
  • On central bank policy following the elections, Nebati said, “we say that interest rates will not increase on May 15. There will be no change in our economy policy. Turkey’s new economy model has fit in”. The next CBRT rate decision is on April 27, the last before the May 14 elections.
  • Foreign Minister Cavusoglu will speak to reporters in Brussels today following Finland’s entrance to NATO while IYI Party leader Aksener will address her party’s lawmakers at 0830BST/1030 local time in parliament. There are no major data releases scheduled today.
