Net Asset Purchases Fall Sharply On Large Redemptions

ECB

ECB net asset purchases fell sharply to a four-week low of E7.5bln last week, vs E28.2bln prior.

  • This was highlighted by a slowdown in PEPP purchases, to E8.2bln from E18.6bln prior. PSPP purchases were net negative (lowest since the last week of July), while Covered Bond and CSPP purchases also slipped, though ABS buys were the highest since at least March 2020.
  • This largely reflects big redemptions though, including E8.4bln PEPP and E8.9bln PSPP.
