Net Buys Continue To Pick Up Amid Summer Lull

ECB net purchases picked up to a 3-week high in the week to Aug 13, at E22.8bln vs E21.6bln the prior week, and well above the E9.0bln two weeks ago.

  • PEPP net buys edged up to E17.2B vs E16.4B the prior week, while PSPP saw similar gains (E4.8bln vs E3.3bln the previous week). Covered Bond and CSPP purchases slipped slightly, while ABS were steady.
  • Overall purchases are edging back toward the 3-month average of E24.4bln (and E19.6bln for PEPP) seen prior to the usual summer slowdown which began at end-July.
